About the Role

You will work within a team of data engineers and be responsible for driving innovation in our data platform. The primary objective of the team is to build a new leading-edge data platform in Azure. Once the new platform is built, the existing SQL Server data warehouse needs to be migrated to it.

We are looking for someone passionate about data and technology who can provide strong technical leadership to transform JustGiving’s data capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong Azure data background and be a motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced collaborative environment.

You will work within a team of  data engineers to extend the data platform. You will use your knowledge and experience to evangelise best practices Your primary objectives will be the development and maintenance of the SQL Server BI platform and to lead the next evolution to the cloud.

Responsibilities

  • Full end to end support and development of the existing Kimball data warehouse
  • Implement new data integrations with a variety of sources, including API sources
  • Technical leadership in building a new Azure data lake architecture data platform
  • Maintain, support, and author reports and dashboards in SSRS and Power BI
  • Contribute to ongoing process and technical improvements
  • Mentor junior members of the team
  • Excellent judgment on the selection of methods/techniques to solve the problem at hand, with a focus on manageability and maintainability
  • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements for new reporting and system integrations

Technical Skills

  • Extensive Eexperience Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen 2. with Azure data services including Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks.
  • Demonstrated experience in using C# for integration with external systems and services
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft SQL Server 2014 and later for SSIS, SSAS tabular, SSRS
  • Proven expertise coding using languages such as C#, Python
  • Experience working in Data Lake and Kimball data warehouse environmentsExcellent understanding of agile methodologies
  • Experience configuring and maintaining CI/CD using Azure DevOps or another equivalent tool

Background

  • Must have outstanding attention to detail
  • At least 5 years of experience in data warehousing and reporting At least 5 years of work experience in data management disciplines, including data integration, modelling, and optimization
  • Experienced in leading the development of a data platform in Azure
  • Thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced, team environment
  • Have the initiative to drive projects forwards and be a self-starter
